Stage-2: Days Passing by in Çınardibi

I am having great time more than i thought and did almost every activity that i was planning to do. In the first official day of voluntary i was responsible from the library. I organised and give a number to every single book in library with Berkant. That doesn't seem a task to me, i'm always doing smilar work at home. Second time was big day for Çınardibi , thats the day before 6th Çınardibi Solidarity Festival and we helped the preparation by writing 'Thank you for coming our festival' into books that will be given to children who will attended the festival. After that two non-fatiguing task we enjoy it and hang out a while, chatted with other volunteers and authorities.

The third and the last day was marvellous, the most enjoyable day. I and Burak was called for giving English lessons. YEY! There's 4rd, 5th and 6th grade children waiting with their notebooks to study with us. We were 4 volunteers and we decided to divide children into 4 groups so we can study easily. I have met other 2 volunteers the first time but we broke the ice immediately during the lesson. After we gave break, the hard part was taking that children into classroom. I decided to play 'Adam Asmaca' game in english, everyone agree with it and children run into classroom the moment i say the word 'game'. I divided the class and every group chosed its own name. It was like 'Ulutepe, Aslanlar ve Susamurları' :)) I made the rules and it was forbidden to say turkish letter. As a result, the youngest group beat the others. We had really have a good time that us volunteers and all the children went home 1 hour late and played game :) I think they improved their English a bit and we did something beneficial for them while enjoying.

We didn't talked about that project with my friends so i don't know what is going on with their volunteerism. I just know about my friends doing the same tasks with me.

By the way i might complete my 12 hours volunteerism but i promised to give lessons during december. So i'm in :))

Stage-1: First Day Of Çınardibi Kültür Merkezi

I'm engaged in a project which helps children whose parents don't take care of in Çınardibi neighborhood. What really surprised me as i first set foot on Çınardibi was seeing the young-aged kids walking down the streets alone. Their parents must be highly ignorant, that disappointed me indeed but i'm consoling myself thinking we're going to be their new sisters and brothers.

Today, I went Çınardibi Kültür Merkezi for orientation and see those kids for the first time, preparing for their football training.  I haven't started working yet but i'm already excited about teaching something to children and be helpful for them. Thus, they will learn something from me -not only about lessons but also about life- and maybe start to have self-confidence. Actually this is my aim for choosing this project.

As i mentioned before, i'm planning to help their homework, play games with them, make activities like drama and even establish a choir. We talked with the coordinator Devrim, he told us there's a need of teacher for choir and so Burak and i are voluntary for this thrilling activity. We're  really looking forward for it and already started planning. Burak is playing guitar, i'm sure that kids will like the sound of 'real music' and in the curiosity of the smiles on kids' faces.

What Devrim did, starting this Çınardibi project is admirable. He told us how he's in the twinge of conscience when he came back to his old neighbourhood and try to find ways to support this place's education. He actually makes Çınardibi habitable for the kids, away from ignorance and the most beautiful benefit is to socialize them. That's the reason why i choosed Çınardibi Kültür Merkezi, that makes positive change in community.

I'm really believing myself that i will be beneficial for the children, share their life stories and be their sister. It will be very proud for me to see that kids learn something from me and seeing a kid stepping closer to his dreams with me, i can't change that to anything.
